How it works.
Each month, we have a hour-long live tutorial on zoom. I'll talk you through the month's creative or technical challenge and outline my techniques, settings and related field craft.
You'll then have a couple of weeks to complete the month's challenge, before we have a one-on-one zoom, to provide tailored assistance specific to your level and goals.
The sessions are recorded and are accompanied by notes, printable notes, photographic examples and related articles and videos.
You'll also have access to my private community to get help, ask questions and obtain feedback and further hints, tips and examples throughout the mentorship.
What you'll accomplish
At the conclusion of the mentorship, you’ll be able to look at a scene and make confident decisions before you even raise the camera. You’ll learn how to assess the light, background, conditions and behaviour in front of you, then choose the creative approach most likely to work.
You’ll become astute in positioning yourself for the best possible result, understanding how small changes in angle, distance and perspective can completely transform an image.
You’ll also develop a much stronger eye for your own work and be able to identify your best photographs, understanding why they work, and recognise what could be improved - and why - when an image falls short.
Most importantly, you’ll feel more confident making decisions in the field. Instead of second-guessing settings, composition or creative choices, you’ll be drawing on a growing mix of creative and technical
understanding, visual awareness and experience.
Because better bird photography is rarely about one dramatic breakthrough. It is the accumulation of dozens of small, thoughtful decisions that add up to a much stronger photograph.
