Let’s head out to Panboola wetlands near Pambula on the beautiful Sapphire Coast of NSW for a private bird photography session.
These relaxed, one-on-one coaching sessions are all about helping you feel more confident with your camera and getting the kinds of bird shots you’ve been dreaming of.
Whether it’s mastering birds in flight or just getting your settings sorted, we’ll focus on what you need - at your pace, in one of the south coast's premium bird photography locations.
After our session, we'll review over a coffee or even a cheeky afternoon tipple at Nine Circles Distillery which overlooks Panboola.
Morning and Afternoon Sessions Available
I recommend a morning session starting 7 - 8am for the best experience. The wind does tend to pick up in the afternoons, especially in the spring. I find the birds are more active in the mornings ... but the afternoon can yield some beautiful light results if you're just not a morning person!

Which birds will we see?
Unfortunately I can't make any promises about exact species. But there is a wide range of birds at Panboola, particularly from Spring to Autumn. See the video below for just some of the birds I have photographed there.
A firm favourite is the delicate and shy Southern Emu-wren (pictured), which we have a good chance of finding, as I am well experienced at tracking them and do see them most days.
Panboola Meeting Place & Start Point
We meet in the carpark at Panboola's second entrance where the Panboola office is located. (Not at the main entrance, which gets busy and has limited parking). Access is from the Princes Highway just behind the Idlewilde Motel at the bottom of Pambula's main street. Look for the Panboola sign and the driveway adjacent to the empty lot.
There is ample parking available including disabled access parks. Note the nearest toilet facilities located about 2 blocks away.
