8 Ingredients for a Great Bird Photo

Frustrated with my slow progress capturing a great shot, I realised I didn't actually know the specifics of what I needed to do to get one 😟

I then spent some time looking through other bird photographer's work that I admired, analysing the key ingredients that were consistent throughout, and so this list was born!

It's natural to forget what to do in 'the heat of moment' but one thing I am learning to do is to slow down, avoid FOMO (fear of missing out) and take my time with composing a shot.

I used to rush, thinking I was going to miss out, but now I don't worry if the bird moves on - there's always another opportunity somewhere down the line! What's the point in coming home with a second rate shot you're only going to delete anyway? 🤷‍♀️

I mentally refer to my list, and instead of ending up with a heap of crappy photos, I'm taking less images of better quality.

It's also making the 'going through images' and editing process soooo much quicker and less tedious. As an added bonus my computer is a lot happier, not groaning under the weight of thousands of sub-par photos! 😅
